Excellence Rewarded: Solomon Tagoe and Mary Samuel Emerge Victorious at PRURIDE 2025

The sixth edition of PRURIDE 2025 came off at the Independence square in Accra.

The Road Race organized by the Ghana Cycling Federation in collaboration with Prudential Life Insurance Ghana drew Competitors from Ghana, Nigeria, and Morocco.

110 Professional cyclists competed for the prestigious PRURIDE Accra 2025 Men's Road Race.

In a stunning display of endurance, the peloton conquered twenty laps setting the roads of Accra alight with competition.



After racing for over two hours and fifty three minutes, Solomon Tagoe of Gutten CC powered across the finish line to claim a victory.

His break away competitor Gabriel from Nigeria suffered a flat tyre which gave Solomon Tagoe an edge over him.

The 2025 PRURide edition marked a significant milestone in gender equity, with equal prize money awarded to both the male and female champions. The women’s 75km road race saw Nigerian cyclists Mary Samuel and Patience Effiong Otuodung clinch first and second place respectively, while Ghana’s Erica Sedzro secured third.

In the 100km Male Road Race, Solomon Tagoe of Gutten CC emerged victorious with an average speed of 34.68 km/h, followed closely by Frank Akuffo Awuku (TBT) and Prince Maison (Club Sky Team).

The top ten finishers of the cycling event came from clubs such as TBT, Club Sky Team, Young Stars Cycling Club, and FCG.




One of the most inspiring aspects of the PRURIDE 2025 cycling event is its inclusivity.

This year’s race was a beautiful picture of cycling's lifelong appeal as wisdom Adams Anang (FCG), who at 52 years young, proved that passion and pedal power have no age limit.

The race also highlighted the future of the sport including young and vibrant such as Mubarak Shaban Mohammed, Joel Berry Monday, and Alfred Acquaye.

The PRURIDE Accra 2025 was more than just a competition; it was a festival of cycling that brought together diverse clubs and federations. The presence of teams from the Cycling Federation of Nigeria and Riverpark Ghana, among others, underscores the growing prestige of this event and the spirit of regional sportsmanship it fosters.



110 cyclists competing among themselves and sharing the road indicate that cycling is a powerful unifying tool can that can be use to breach unemployment and create a livelihood for people.

The race was flagged by Sports and Recreation minister Hon. Kofi Adams

Other dignitaries include the President of the Ghana Cycling Federation, Vice of President of Ghana Chess Federation Christina Ashley, Nana Mankata II, President of Sports for All, the General Secretary of the Cycling Federation, Shaaban Mohammed.
