  People who wear glasses could be up to three times less likely to be infected by coronavirus, a study from India has suggested. One way the virus can enter the body is by people touching their eyes, nose or mouth after coming into contact with it. However, researchers in India say people who wear glasses rub their eyes less and are therefore at less risk of contracting Covid-19. In a non-peer reviewed study published on the website medRxiv, the researchers studied 304 people (223 male and 81 female) at a hospital in northern India over two weeks last summer. The patients were aged between 10 and 80 and had all reported Covid symptoms. Of those, 19 per cent said they wore glasses most of the time. The researchers found participants touched their face up to 23 times each hour on average and their eyes an average of three times per hour. The Electoral Commission (EC) will conduct the district level elections for assembly and unit committee members for the Nkoranza North and Nkoranza South districts on Friday, April 16, 2021. This follows the expiration of the term of office of the assembly and unit committee members of both districts. In a press release, the Commission said it had made nomination forms available at the District offices of the affected areas as well as its website. It further directed candidates to deliver the nomination forms to the Returning Officer of the electoral area for which they seek election between Tuesday, March 9, 2021, and Friday, March 12, 2021, between the hours of 9:00 am and 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on each day.   WhatsApp To Switch off Messages for Users Who Reject New Privacy Terms Mensah Maxwell WhatsApp has recently detailed what exactly will happen to users who disagree to its privacy changes. Earlier last week, the Facebook-owned messaging app stated it will allow users time to review WhatsApp’s planned privacy updates all “at their own pace”. WhatsApp has said that users will see a banner displayed at the top of the app, which is expected to explain the new privacy terms and changes. WhatsApp claims that it will “slowly ask” users to agree to the new terms “in order to have full functionality of WhatsApp”.   SOUTH CAROLINA GOVERNOR PASSED LAW TO BAN ABORTIONS South Carolina’s governor on Thursday signed a law banning most abortions, one of his top priorities since he took office more than four years ago. Planned Parenthood immediately sued, effectively preventing the measure from taking effect. The "South Carolina Fetal Heartbeat and Protection from Abortion Act" is similar to abortion restriction laws that a dozen states have previously passed. All are tied up in court. The Methodist Girls Senior High School in the Eastern Region has won for the second time in the world Robotics and Coding Competition. The Girls were able to beat their counterparts, the Avenues FLL MG Team from Avenue World School (AWS) based in New York City, USA. The competition was held virtual consisted of 5000 teams across the world.

 The Rebecca Foundation has Handed Over a Newly Constructed Library. The Rebecca Foundation has commissione d and handed over a newly constructed Library in Kumawu in the Sekyere Kumawu District on Friday 19th Feb.2021. This is in support to the District Assembly and the Ghana Library Authority in the Ashanti Region. The library was constructed, furnished, and resourced by the Rebecca Foundation with the aid of Ghana Education Service, Ghana Library Authority and Book Aid International. Through the " Learning to Read Reading to Learn" initiative by the Rebecca Foundation, people at Wenchi, Sefwi Debiso, Moree, Daffiama Bussie Issah and Amasaman has benefited from the library constructions. Very soon, the foundation will commission and hand over libraries at Bortianor and Dambai making eight libraries in total the foundation has constructed.
