DISMANTLING THE PRCERPTION OF VOTE-RIGGING
OF ELECTION PETITIONS: DISMANTLING THE PERCEPTION OF VOTE-RIGGING IN THE NATIONAL ELECTIONS.
The
game we play always consist of winner and loser or can carry equal points after
a time frame provided. Our Team intention is to be named or declared as a
winner at the end. If not, we will put our defeat on the Referee or on the game officials.
The same as the minds of our opponent. The behavior of conceding something without
the sweet-juicy considering others’ feelings is rapidly increasing under this
current new dress code of democracy. It keeps running rapid it runs which
deviated from retired.
The
minds of the citizens are politically enslaved with rigorously ideology
concerning elections specifically, the aspect of the national elections.
Though, election generally allow the citizens of a state to select or elect
their desire leader for a given time frame. This phenomena has tremendously
giving generation offspring named ‘vote-rigging’. By placing it in a conducive
context, Vote-rigging is an illegal interference with the process of an
election result either by increasing or by cancelling out the same or rival
candidate or both.
Henceforth,
vote-rigging perceptions is one major key in our national elections. Prior to
December 2012, the then biggest opposition party – NPP (New Patriotic Party)
leader Nana Addo Dankwa Akufful Addo resisted the result declared by the Electoral
Commission chaired by Charllote Osei. Many claims and accusations, were placed on
her for “Rigging” the election in favor of their biggest opposition party –
National Democratic Congress (NDC). Petition was heard in court and after wards
they lost as well.
In
support of their stands, pressure groups were mounted which include “let my
vote count Alliance” to mantled pressure on the electoral commission to declare
the election result again. On the side, John Dramani Mahama who was then siting
President and his party gave their support to the electoral commission
directing the crying counterpart to visit the court if they believe that the
election was been rigged. Popular quote “any idiot can go to court” said by
Jonson Asiedu Nketsia, the general secretary for the ruling government. So, is
this a game?
In September 16, 2015, we witnessed a group of
demonstrators comprising the Alliance for Accountable Governance, Let My Vote
Count Alliance as stated earlier and the NPP clad in red attires to demand the
creation of a new voter's register as they alleged bloated figures in the old
register. Meanwhile, in August 14, 2020 the NDC's Sammy Gyamfi also alleged
brutalities by some military and police personnel and alleged NPP tugs at some
registration centers in the country.
I thought it will end there but my dream did not comes through. But only one understanding, democracy does not mean absolutely violent free. Recently, the just ended election 2020 also radical the same phenomena. The ruling party, New Patriotic Party has changed the ringtone belling against the electoral commission but apparently referring the commission as white Bath owls. Whilst the opposition party National Democratic Congress making press conference upon press conference to dress the commission with black suit. Later part, chasing court with noodles facts against the same electoral commission they altered on them an angelic oil and flagrant perfume some years ago. So, is it a game play?
It
must be clearly stated that, vote-rigging is a norm behind the mind set of
every loser of a game played. Now the nation can’t do away with as the central
variable factor making the “you do me I do you” game interested. Making vibrant
in our democracy. The bad side is the youth involving in fighting for what do
not exist. The youth involving this makes a fuse claims base on what their
party leaders will instruct them to do.
Further
notice is to understand that, democracy goes with nut and bolt contents. Human
created the democracy as it has to operate by man and definitely vote-rigging
can’t be absent from this environment.
Dismantling
the perception of vote-rigging, has to be drag off from the citizens’ mind and realize
as method politicians used to sympathize themselves and the followers. No
winner will actually cry over an election result even if they noticed they were
been robbed. But losers will always sound the trumpet to alarm the integrity of
their counterpart.
