For decades, the winner in Akwatia hasn't just won a seat in parliament; they've often predicted the direction of the entire country. This is the ultimate bellwether, a swing district so finely balanced that the average vote share between the two major parties is a statistical dead heat: NPP 49.98% vs. NDC 49.97%.

Why All Eyes Are on Akwatia

The upcoming by-election on September 2, 2025, is more than a routine vote. It’s a high-stakes political thriller triggered by the death of NPP MP Ernest Yaw Kumi. The contest pits the NPP's Solomon Kwame Asumadu, a local miner, against the NDC's Bernard Bediako Baidoo, a sharp legal mind.

The Road Race organized by the Ghana Cycling Federation in collaboration with Prudential Life Insurance Ghana drew Competitors from Ghana, Nigeria, and Morocco. 1 10 Professional cyclists competed for the prestigious PRURIDE Accra 2025 Men's Road Race. In a stunning display of endurance, the peloton conquered twenty laps setting the roads of Accra alight with competition. After racing for over two hours and fifty three minutes, Solomon Tagoe of Gutten CC powered across the finish line to claim a victory. His break away competitor Gabriel from Nigeria suffered a flat tyre which gave Solomon Tagoe an edge over him.
